Attachment Theory - A psychological explanation for the emotional bonds and relationships between people ( Bowlby/Ainsworth)

Attunement - to bring into accord, harmony, or sympathetic relationship e.g. our ability to be aware of and respond to our child's needs

​

Bio-psycho-social Model - Clinical care guided by a way of understanding how suffering, disease, and illness are affected by multiple levels of organization, from the societal to the molecular. At the practical level, it is a way of understanding the patient’s subjective experience as an essential contributor to accurate diagnosis, health outcomes, and humane care (Borrell-Carrió et al.).

Neuroception - Detection without awareness e.g.how our body innately detects if we feel safe or not in our enviornment before we have time to think about it, which influences how we interact in the world (Stephen Porges). 

​

Dán - an old Irish noun, meaning ; 1.  Gift, offering. 2. Craft, calling: allotted task. 

​

Epigenetics - the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work e.g. change is possible!

​

Mirroring - behavior in which one person subconsciously imitates the gesture, speech pattern, or attitude of another e.g. between a parent and child. 

​

Neuroplasticity -  the ability of the brain to rewire itself and change through growth and reorganization e.g. again, change is possible!

​

Vulnerability - Uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. Vulnerability is not weakness; it's our most accurate measure of courage’ (Brene Brown’s definition)
